Past and
Present
My
name is José Luis, but in my homeland Brazil, like any other Portuguese
speaking country, Zé is short for José. So, I go by Zé
Luis.
I am an artist
who appreciates good food, good living, good health and good music. By
the way, I am a composer, saxophone and flute player born in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil.
When I was
born, my great-grandfather was a very important and famous writer in my
homeland, Mr. Alvaro Moreyra. He welcome me to the world by writing the
following:
José
Luis
Just
a few days have gone by since you came to this world and you are a happy
man. Everyone that knows you wishes you well. You arrived just before
Christmas, and the New Year will surge absolutely new to you. I am the
eldest of your tribe.
Later
on they will tell you my name in the scale of your ancestors: the
great-grandfather. I am your great-grandfather, Josˇ Luis.
As
of now I wish you, as intensively as I will for the years of 2,000 and
so forth of the Grace of Our Lord. More, much more I have saved to offer
you.
In
words, with reality, I wish that the earth of the life you are going
to live on to be always beautiful, good, serene, and friendly. I wish
that you never need to forgive. That you never need to forget. That
you can smile to everything thankfully and pleasantly, and I also wish
that you can look to the landscapes, to the things, to the creatures,
with eyes without fatigue or sadness.
I
wish that the fortunate man of today goes on like that till the end,
seeing around him, love, sweetness, and enchantment.. I wish that the
boy grows in to a man , but I also wish that your soul stays exactly
as in the instant of awakening at the age of surprise, not known, of
having returned.
The
sky, then, will have other stars. Perhaps you will also be one, among
the so many stars that will shine and glow up there. Here I come, to
bring you with the heart that I have used so much and did not wear out,
my hope and my tenderness. Have a good journey, Josˇ Luis!
